At Build Two, we build new homes, renovate existing properties and complete residential and light commercial construction projects throughout the greater Wellington region. Based in Pukerua Bay, we work across Porirua, Wellington City, the Hutt Valley, the Kāpiti Coast and as far north as Levin. Our projects range from kitchen and bathroom renovations to architecturally designed homes, townhouse developments and commercial fit-outs.

Our company was founded by Sam Kortegast, a Licensed Building Practitioner and member of New Zealand Certified Builders. With 19 years of building experience, Sam leads our team of qualified builders, carpenters and apprentices. We bring practical construction knowledge, careful planning and experienced project management to every job, working closely with architects, engineers, designers, consultants and specialist trades.

As Wellington builders, we understand that successful construction starts well before work begins on site. We take the time to understand what our clients want to achieve, discuss their budgets and identify the practical requirements of each project. We then help coordinate the design, pricing, building consent process, construction work and final council sign-off.

We believe clients should understand what they are paying for and how their project will progress. Our approach includes detailed proposals, clear budget breakdowns, organised scheduling and regular communication throughout construction. We use project management systems to coordinate the work and keep track of the people, materials and processes involved.

Experience Across Residential and Commercial Construction

Our experience extends beyond individual house builds. We have managed and delivered residential developments, architectural homes, multi-unit housing and light commercial construction throughout the region.

Our projects include an architecturally designed new home in Pukerua Bay, six coastal townhouses in Paraparaumu and the Alexander Kramer mixed-use apartment development at Paraparaumu Beach. We have also undertaken housing development work on the Kāpiti Coast and residential renovation projects in Wellington and Levin.

This experience allows us to work across different construction requirements, from alterations to an occupied family home through to larger developments involving multiple trades, engineering requirements and council processes.

We also provide building compliance and remedial construction services. Where properties have unconsented building work, structural concerns or weathertightness problems, we work with the appropriate specialists to investigate practical ways to resolve those issues.

Qualified Builders and Industry Membership

Our company is led by a Licensed Building Practitioner and holds membership with New Zealand Certified Builders. We take our building responsibilities seriously, particularly where structural work, weathertightness and compliance with the New Zealand Building Code are concerned.

Through our New Zealand Certified Builders membership, eligible clients can apply for the Halo 10-Year Residential Guarantee. Applications must be submitted before building work begins, and protection is subject to the guarantee's terms and conditions.

We also support New Zealand-made products and look for opportunities to reuse suitable materials and reduce unnecessary construction waste.

Labour-only arrangements suit projects where the client or principal contractor already manages the materials, construction documentation and wider project responsibilities.

Depending on the project, we can provide labour under hourly rate arrangements or fixed-price tenders. We work alongside existing site managers, subcontractors and construction teams to carry out the agreed building work.

Construction Project Management

Project management is an important part of our building services.

We can become involved during the early planning stages, before architectural drawings and construction specifications are finalised. This gives us an opportunity to provide input on materials, construction methods and potential cost implications.

Our process covers initial discussions, site visits, design coordination, project proposals, budget planning and construction.

During the building phase, we organise subcontractors, coordinate suppliers, monitor project stages and assist with inspections and building compliance requirements.

We also use digital systems to manage project information. For new builds, our systems can keep warranty and maintenance records together and provide reminders for future upkeep.
