At A Wedding Story, we specialise in capturing weddings through natural photography, cinematic videography and genuine storytelling. Based in Wellington, we work with couples throughout the region and across New Zealand, preserving the moments, emotions and celebrations that make every wedding different.

We're a husband-and-wife team led by Ruchika and Dinesh Jain. Together, we combine our love of photography and filmmaking with a relaxed, personal approach. Ruchika leads our wedding photography, while Dinesh brings his technical expertise and creative eye to wedding videography and photography.

As Wellington wedding photographers, we understand that the best photographs are not always the ones people plan. They're often the spontaneous laughter, emotional embraces, proud family moments and quiet exchanges that happen naturally throughout the day.

Our photography blends documentary-style storytelling with carefully composed portraits. We capture celebrations as they unfold while offering gentle direction when needed. Although we're based in Wellington, our wedding photography and videography services extend to Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, Porirua, the Kāpiti Coast, Wairarapa, Palmerston North and Whanganui. We also accept bookings elsewhere in New Zealand and can discuss destination weddings.

Our Approach to Wedding Photography

We know how much planning goes into a wedding. Before the event, we discuss the couple's schedule, preferred photographic style and any important moments they want us to capture.

Our pre-wedding consultations help us understand the ceremony, reception, location requirements and people involved. We can also share practical suggestions about suitable portrait locations, photography timing and ways to make the most of available natural light.

During the wedding, we aim to capture events without constantly interrupting them. We photograph candid interactions while keeping an eye on the important details, from decorations and wedding attire to family gatherings and traditional ceremonies.

For formal portraits, we provide direction that feels comfortable rather than overly staged. We want couples to look natural in their photographs, even if they don't usually enjoy being photographed.

Professional Wedding Photo Editing and Delivery

After the wedding, we carefully edit and prepare the images for delivery. Our photography packages typically include professionally edited, high-resolution photographs and an online gallery that makes viewing and sharing images easier.

We can also discuss printed photographs, wall displays and wedding albums for couples who prefer physical keepsakes.

Our standard photography delivery timeframe is generally four to six weeks, although timing can depend on the booking and agreed requirements.

We're based in the Wellington region and regularly work throughout Wellington City, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, Porirua and the Kāpiti Coast.

Our coverage also extends to Wairarapa, Palmerston North and Whanganui, with bookings available across New Zealand.

We can discuss travel arrangements for weddings outside our usual service area and destination wedding photography overseas.

Flexible Wedding Photography Packages

We recognise that couples have different priorities and budgets. Some want photography for a short ceremony, while others need coverage from morning preparations through to the evening reception.

We offer wedding photography, videography and combined packages with different coverage arrangements. Custom options are also available.

Our booking process includes discussing requirements, confirming availability and agreeing on the selected services. A signed contract and deposit are required to secure a booking.

We encourage couples to enquire early, particularly when planning weddings during popular dates and peak wedding season.
